Sydney, Australia - A video circulating online appears to show Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel being attacked during a service at the Christ the Good Shepherd church in Sydney. The incident comes barely 48 hours after another stabbing attack left the city reeling.
The video, which has been shared widely on social media, shows a man approaching Bishop Emmanuel during the service. The man is seen swinging an object at the bishop, who falls to the ground. Witnesses said the assailant was armed with a knife.
Bishop Emmanuel was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. His condition is currently unknown.
The attack has sent shockwaves through the Sydney community. It is the second such incident in the city in just one week. On Monday night, a 15-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly stabbing a man to death in Martin Place.
